Biography
Gordon Hutchins was a local Communist Party organizer arrested at Hillsboro (Montgomery County), Illinois in June 1934 as one of eleven Unemployed Council leaders charged under the state's 1919 sedition law with conspiracy to overthrow the government — one of the last major uses of Illinois' World War I–era sedition statute, tied to unrest in the Progressive Miners' coalfields.
