Biography
George Voyzey was the Illinois state president of the National Miners' Union, jailed under numerous charges and heavy bond during the Illinois coal strike of 1929–30. During the 1929–30 Illinois coal strike, the National Miners' Union led rank-and-file miners against both the operators and the Lewis machine of the United Mine Workers. Militia and deputies jailed strike leaders wholesale around Taylorville and the Franklin County fields.
