Biography
George Russell was a member of the New Orleans Black Panther Party. In November 1970, as he, Harold Holmes, and some 25 others set out for the People's Revolutionary Constitutional Convention in Washington, D.C., they were arrested by heavily armed New Orleans police; Russell was charged with criminal trespassing, criminal anarchy, and criminal property damage. His case was part of the larger New Orleans Desire-project prosecution. Documented in The Black Panther (June 12, 1971).
