Biography
Fred Mermon was one of the railway shopmen convicted in the frame-up that grew out of the 1922 nationwide shop-crafts strike near Daly City, California, where a clash left a man dead. Pleading guilty, he was sentenced to ten years at San Quentin; his fellow defendants John J. Cornelison and Claude Merritt drew life terms. The ILD's Labor Defender kept the men's cause alive through the 1920s.
