Biography
Charles Guynn, the national secretary of the National Miners' Union, was convicted under Ohio's criminal-syndicalism law for speaking and distributing leaflets at Martins Ferry and sentenced to 10 years. In 1929–30 Belmont County, Ohio prosecuted National Miners' Union and Trade Union Unity League organizers under the state's criminal-syndicalism law for distributing shop papers and speaking at mill and mine gates around Martins Ferry; the convictions carried five-to-ten-year terms and were appealed by the ILD.
