Biography

Andrew Yiannopolis was a Greek-born Chicagoan, director of the Greek Theater and a 42-year U.S. resident, ordered deported under the Walter-McCarran Act for alleged past Communist Party membership. In 1957 the Seventh Circuit upheld a district court ruling quashing the deportation, finding he had been denied a fair hearing and that the salaried government witnesses lacked credibility.
