Biography

A. A. Fisher was a Pacific Northwest leader of the International Woodworkers of America convicted of falsely signing a Taft-Hartley non-Communist affidavit. The Ninth Circuit reversed his conviction in February 1956 — finding the trial judge had wrongly barred FBI records of payments to an informer and misdefined 'affiliation' — and the government announced it would retry him.
