Biography

Herbert Simpson was one of three Portland, Oregon residents convicted of contempt of Congress for refusing to answer the Velde committee (HUAC) during its 1954 West Coast hearings. He was sentenced to ten months and a $250 fine and was appealing before the Ninth Circuit in 1956.
