Biography
William Schulz was a Pentecostal conscientious objector from Michigan imprisoned during World War I. Court-martialed for refusing military service, he was held at Fort Leavenworth. (Documented in the Swarthmore College Peace Collection's World War I Conscientious Objectors database.) Archival note: named on Judge Advocate General's card file entitled CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR -- AS DEFENSE: "The alleged conscientious objections, which the accused testified he had, in no wise constitutes a defense to the offense charged (disloyal utterances), and may be disregarded in this case. …
