Biography

William Allan was a Detroit Communist and labor writer for the Michigan Worker, convicted of conspiracy under the Smith Act. In 1955 the government additionally moved to strip his citizenship through denaturalization proceedings, hoping to use his case to overturn the 1943 Schneiderman precedent.
