Biography
Tony Minerich was the editor of the Croatian paper Narodni Glasnik, threatened with deportation in 1953. His case was part of a broader McCarran-Walter Act campaign against editors of the foreign-language radical press.
Anthony Minerich was a veteran coal-miners' organizer and business manager of the Croatian-language weekly Narodni Glasnik, stripped of his U.S. citizenship in a 1956 Chicago denaturalization trial. The government cited his Communist membership and a 1928 contempt conviction for addressing miners in defiance of a strike injunction; he had come to the U.S. at age two.
