Timothy Reed

Timothy “Little Rock” Reed became known as a Native American prisoner-rights advocate and critic of prison and parole practices, work he pursued after serving time in Ohio. In 1993, shortly before his parole was due to end, Reed fled the state after being accused of violating parole conditions—an allegation he and supporters argued was retaliation for his outspoken criticism of prison officials. He relocated to New Mexico, where courts ultimately blocked his extradition during a prolonged legal fight and later reinstated his parole. Reed died in 2000 in a traffic crash in Albuquerque.
