Biography
Timothy Jacobs is a Tuscarora activist most closely associated with the 1988 Robeson County newspaper takeover alongside Eddie Hatcher. The action was explicitly political—intended to force public attention to claims of corruption, racial violence, and neglect of Native communities—while also leading to serious criminal charges because of the hostages and firearms involved.
Jacobs ultimately pleaded guilty to multiple kidnapping counts and was sentenced to prison, serving roughly a year and a half before release. Afterward, he remained involved in advocacy on Native issues, including community memory and land-rights campaigns connected to Tuscarora history.
