Biography

Steve Tandaric was a pioneer CIO steel organizer and a veteran of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade who fought Franco in Spain, pursued for deportation for two decades. Arrested by federal agents in March 1957 and held without bail at the Chicago Detention Center, he won a stay pending judicial review of the 1951 deportation order against him.
