Biography

Harold Ward was a Black official of the United Electrical/Farm Equipment workers (UE-FE) and a leader of the 1952 International Harvester strike in Chicago, charged with murder in the death of a strikebreaker in what the National Guardian called a 'new Haymarket.' Held without bail and tried twice, he was ultimately acquitted of both counts by the end of 1952.
