Mother of a slain Sioux youth who was choked and beaten by a state trooper when she was denied entry to the 1973 Custer, S.D. courthouse; The Black Panther Vol. 14 no.27 (1976) reports she was sentenced to one-to-three years and served six months while her son's white killer got probation. On November 15, 1974, she was released on parole from the South Dakota Women's Prison in Yankton, where she had been confined since June 1 — her release coming as acquittals mounted in the Wounded Knee-related trials, whose dismissals and acquittals then totaled 44 (The Black Panther, December 14, 1974).
