Roy E. Peters

Roy E. Peters was a Church of the Brethren conscientious objector from Illinois imprisoned during World War I. Court-martialed for refusing military service, he was held at Fort Leavenworth. (Documented in the Swarthmore College Peace Collection's World War I Conscientious Objectors database.) Archival note: joined the Church of the Brethren at the age of twelve; sent to Camp Greenleaf; refused uniform, until forced upon him; refused to drill; worked in camp; after release from Leavenworth, was sent to Ft.
