Biography
The Rev. R. Edwin King, a white theological student, was jailed in Montgomery, Alabama in 1960 for attempting to dine with a Black companion at the Jefferson Davis Hotel. First given 10 days and a $200 fine, he was re-sentenced on July 13 to three months at hard labor and freed on bond pending appeal.
