Biography

Richard "Doe" Racklin was an ACT UP/Los Angeles activist who disrupted President George H. W. Bush's address at the 1992 Republican National Convention in Houston. Entering with press credentials, he shouted "What about AIDS?" and threw condoms. He was arrested and held in harsh Harris County jail conditions for several days. The surviving account does not give a precise release date; the action occurred during the convention of August 17 to 20, 1992, probably during Bush's August 20 speech.
