Biography
Ricardo Flores Magón was a Mexican anarchist journalist and revolutionary organizer whose writing and organizing helped inspire the Mexican Revolution and shaped cross-border radical networks. Through the Partido Liberal Mexicano and allied publications, he promoted anti-authoritarian politics, labor militancy, and resistance to dictatorship, drawing repeated arrests in both Mexico and the United States. U.S. authorities prosecuted him multiple times, including a major World War I–era case in which he was arrested in 1918, convicted under the Espionage Act for antiwar writings, and sentenced to 20 years in federal prison. He died in custody in 1922 at Leavenworth, leaving a legacy defined by revolutionary agitation and the high costs of dissent.
