Biography

Philip Frankfeld was the chairman of the Maryland-District of Columbia Communist Party and the lead of the six Baltimore Smith Act defendants arrested in 1951.

Philip Frankfeld was the chairman of the Maryland Communist Party, convicted in the 1952 Baltimore Smith Act trial of conspiring to advocate the overthrow of the government. He was among the sixteen Smith Act prisoners still behind bars in early 1956 listed in the A. J. Muste–Eleanor Roosevelt amnesty petition.
