Biography

Peter Eamon Maguire, known as Eamon McGuire, was an aviation engineer and IRA activist born in County Monaghan in 1936. A separate defendant in the prosecution associated with the Boston Three, he was extradited to the United States in February 1994. He pleaded guilty to three charges connected with an IRA arms-export and anti-helicopter conspiracy and received a 70-month federal sentence on June 15, 1994. His US imprisonment included FCI Cumberland. Federal custody ended on September 29, 1997, in the year he was transferred to Ireland to finish his sentence; he was released there before Christmas. He later published the prison-written memoir Enemy of the Empire.
