Biography
Christina Reid, an electronics engineer from California, was prosecuted in the Boston federal case involving alleged Irish republican weapons technology. Authorities portrayed her as part of the network supporting an effort to develop or procure equipment intended for use against British military helicopters in Northern Ireland.
Reid was convicted in the 1990 Boston trial and sentenced to roughly two and a half years in prison. Her case was often cited as an example of how the U.S. government pursued not only alleged procurement of weapons, but also the technical assistance and logistical support that could enable armed campaigns overseas.
