Biography
Patrick Quinlan was an Irish-American IWW orator and Socialist Party organizer who spoke alongside Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, Carlo Tresca, and Big Bill Haywood at the 1913 Paterson, New Jersey silk strike of 25,000 workers. He was the first of the strike's leaders convicted under New Jersey's archaic 'unlawful assemblage' and incitement statutes, drawing 2 to 7 years at the New Jersey State Prison in Trenton. After exhausting appeals he was paroled in 1916 following a sustained national defense campaign.
