Biography

Irish-born former U.S. Army sergeant who defected and rose to captain in the San Patricio Battalion fighting for Mexico in the Mexican-American War. Captured after the Battle of Churubusco. Court-martialed and hanged at San Ángel, Mexico on September 10, 1847.
