Biography
Nat Goodwin was a Black worker arrested in Birmingham, Alabama in early 1934 and held incommunicado for coming to the defense of Jane Speed, a white Communist organizer seized for addressing a mixed-race crowd of unemployed workers. His jailing was part of the wave of racial-political repression the International Labor Defense publicized in the Deep South.
