Biography

Miriam Feingold was a 20-year-old Swarthmore College student from Brooklyn who rode as a Freedom Rider in 1961 and spent 31 days in Mississippi jails — five at the Hinds County jail in Jackson and the rest at the Parchman state penitentiary — for testing interstate desegregation.
