Biography
Marie Reed Haug was a Cleveland union business representative and Progressive Party committeewoman, one of eight people indicted in January 1957 in a novel Taft-Hartley 'conspiracy' prosecution — charged both with falsely signing the non-Communist affidavit and with conspiring with Communist leaders to obtain NLRB services. The 'conspiracy' theory was the government's attempt to evade the Supreme Court's rejection of ordinary affidavit prosecutions.
