Biography

Lemuel Green was a Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee activist arrested and jailed during the December 29, 1966 St. Petersburg City Hall mural protest. Public defenders sought a reduction of bail or release for Green and Joseph Wall. Green was acquitted of grand larceny in May 1967. A 2016 commemoration announcement named him as a posthumous honoree; his date of death has not been verified.

Sentence: Pretrial custody included transfer to the Pinellas County jail in downtown Clearwater on December 30, 1966. Cutting reports a January 3, 1967 bond reduction enabling release for defendants other than Wall; Green's exact release day is unverified. The study describes thirty-day suspended sentences and probation for the four defendants tried municipally after Waller and Bryant. A suspended sentence is not thirty days of time served. No state grand-larceny sentence: acquitted.
