Biography
Kendall Myers (born Walter Kendall Myers) was a long-serving U.S. foreign-affairs official accused of using his government position and access to classified information to assist Cuba. Federal prosecutors alleged that, over nearly three decades, he and his wife clandestinely provided national security information to Cuban intelligence while he worked for the U.S. Department of State, including within the Foreign Service Institute.
The couple was arrested in 2009; Myers pleaded guilty and, in 2010, received a life sentence (with his wife sentenced separately to 81 months). Myers died on March 12, 2026, at age 88 at the Federal Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri, where he had been transferred for medical care while serving his life sentence. He had cancer. His daughter Amanda Myers Klein confirmed the death to The New York Times.
