Biography

Joseph Starobin was a writer and the former foreign editor of the Daily Worker who was voted a contempt-of-Congress citation by the Senate in August 1955 after refusing to disclose his party affiliations, which he called 'my private affair.' He said he was being harassed in part because he used the same publisher as the recanting informer Harvey Matusow.
