Biography

John Grave, a laborer from Sacramento, California, was convicted at the mass IWW trial in Sacramento and sentenced to ten years in prison. He served in local county jails and Leavenworth Penitentiary from December 22, 1917, to March 1918 and from January 25, 1919, to December 22, 1923. The Department of Justice classified him a "deliberate and bitterly radical man" because he "always closes his letters 'Yours for the Revolution.' "
