Biography

Leo Ellis was arrested in San Francisco in November 1919 and convicted under the California Criminal Syndicalism Act for taking part in IWW activities. He escaped from a county jail in May 1920 and became a fugitive from the law. Ellis was captured in Texas in 1926 and returned to California to serve his three-year sentence in San Quentin. In 1928, Ellis was the last member of the IWW to be released from San Quentin.
