Biography
John David Maguire, an assistant professor of religion at Wesleyan University, was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama, on May 25, 1961, after Freedom Riders requested service at the recently desegregated bus-station lunch counter; his arrest number was 11934. The arrest is preserved in the digitized Montgomery mugshot series; the disposition and release are not established by that record and remain unresolved.
