Biography

Joel Doty was one of four Minnesota farm brothers — sons of William N. Doty of Bruno — who refused on conscientious grounds to cooperate with conscription. Having already served about two years in 1951–52 for refusing to register, he walked to jail again in March 1955 under a new two-year sentence for refusing induction.
