Biography
Jo Ann Santiago, born in Canada in 1922 and brought to the United States at age six, was the wife of a Puerto Rican Communist leader. In 1959 she faced deportation after being denied an adjustment of status because she refused to answer questions about Communism; her case was on appeal.
