Biography
Jeffrey Sterling is a former CIA officer who leaked state secrets to the public (namely, the US's plan to give Iran flawed nuclear weapon blueprints) and was sentenced to 3.5 years. He was also the victim of mistreatment while in prison.
In 2015, Sterling was convicted of violating the Espionage Act. He alleges that the prosecution was designed to punish him for fighting against the CIA's racial discrimination in the workplace (he attempted to sue the CIA for discriminatory practices).
In prison, Sterling was denies medicine for his serious heart condition, even when his wife wrote that she feared he could die if untreated.
