Biography
Jack Rubenstein, a young picket-line leader of the 1926 Passaic textile strike, was arrested repeatedly and beaten by police during the strike, held at one point under $10,000 bail, and in 1927 was convicted on an assault-and-battery frame-up and served six months in the Bergen County jail — one of the era's emblematic strike prosecutions reported by the ILD's Labor Defender.
