Biography

Irving Katz was one of the nine Philadelphia Communist leaders convicted in 1953 under the Smith Act. On November 13, 1957 the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, applying the Supreme Court's Yates decision, set aside his conviction along with several co-defendants'.
