Biography
A Catholic peace organizer, Mische was one of the principal planners of the Catonsville Nine’s 1968 draft-records burning, which was designed as direct, nonviolent interference with conscription during the Vietnam War. He was arrested and convicted with the group and received a three‑year prison sentence.
When the prison terms were to begin, Mische was among the members who did not report at the scheduled start, becoming a fugitive for a period. He remained active in later peace and antiwar organizing beyond Catonsville.
