Biography
Gage Halupowski’s case grew out of street-level clashes at a large political demonstration in downtown Portland. After violence during the June 2019 protest around Pioneer Courthouse Square, prosecutors alleged he struck another man with a dangerous weapon, causing significant injury. He later pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and was sentenced to 70 months in prison. The prosecution was announced by the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, which framed the case as part of a broader effort to pursue serious assaults connected to mass demonstrations across Oregon.
