Fermin Ocampo-Tellez, of Aurora, Illinois, reported as twenty-seven at his arrest, was one of three men federally charged with conspiracy to commit bank theft after the night of May 31, 2020, when — amid the George Floyd uprising protests in downtown Aurora — a group tried to remove an ATM from its enclosure at a First Midwest Bank drive-through. The complaint says Ocampo-Tellez repeatedly struck the machine with a baseball bat in an unsuccessful attempt to move it; no money was taken, and the bank put the damage at thirty thousand dollars. He was arrested on July 1, 2020 with Diego Vargas and Michael Gomez and made an initial appearance in federal court in Chicago.
