Biography
Felix Singer was a 32-year-old Freedom Rider from Chicago jailed at the Parchman state penitentiary in Mississippi in 1961. For their total passive resistance he and Terry Sullivan were dragged naked across concrete floors with 'wrist breakers' and shocked with electric cattle prods.
The Civil Rights Digital Library identifies him as a thirty-two-year-old Chicago writer at his arrest — June 2, 1961, at the Jackson Trailways terminal — giving a birth year of about 1929. His individually identified Sovereignty Commission mugshot (Jackson police placard 20938, dated 6-2-61) is attached.
