Ethel Dell was one of six young workers, who drew an extra fifty days for "contempt of court", who leapt the railing at the closing of the 1932 Los Angeles Olympic Games on 14 August to demand freedom for Tom Mooney; convicted of "disturbing the peace," each was given the maximum 270 days in jail.
