Biography

Erling H. Lunde of Chicago was a conscientious objector court-martialed at Camp Funston, Kansas on October 15, 1918 and imprisoned at Fort Leavenworth (and its military hospital) and the Fort Douglas War Prison Barracks. His prison writings, "Letters from a Political Prisoner in a Military Hospital U.S.A.," documented the July 1919 Fort Leavenworth uprising and the brutal treatment of the Hutterite objectors.
