Biography
Abolitionist newspaper editor (Boston Chronotype, Commonwealth) and Boston Vigilance Committee organizer. Prosecuted by the federal government for his role in the February 1851 rescue of Shadrach Minkins; the jury hung and the case was eventually dropped. Wright was also a foundational actuary of U.S. life insurance regulation and a co-founder of the American Anti-Slavery Society.
