Biography
Daniel O'Connell, an attorney, a Socialist and an Irish Nationalist from San Francisco, was convicted of giving "speeches." He was sentenced to seven years in prison and served in McNeil Island Penitentiary. O'Connell had formed an anti-draft organization called "American Patriots" to publish The American Independent. He was barred from practicing law in the state of California because of his political activities.
