Biography

Daniel Flanagan was the editor of the Mason Democrat in Mason, Ohio. In February 1865 he was tried by a military commission on charges that included discouraging enlistments — one of the Northern antiwar "Copperhead" newspaper editors prosecuted for their opposition to the Civil War. He is featured in the Fort Delaware State Park's series on the fort's Civil War political prisoners.
