Biography

Daniel Alan Baker, age 33, a former U.S. Army soldier who went AWOL pre-Iraq deployment and joined the Peoples Protection Units (YPG) in Syria fighting ISIS, was charged with transmitting interstate threats after his January 2021 Call to Arms post urging armed resistance to anticipated armed-mob attacks on the Florida Capitol following the January 6 events. Convicted at trial; 44 months federal prison. Daniel Baker was an army veteran who traveled to Syria to help the YPG fight against ISIS, after returning home he became an EMT and committed anti-fascist activist. After the January 6th attack on the US Capitol Baker wrote on Facebook that people who support democracy need to come armed to the Florida state capital to guard it against Trump supporters and drive them out of Tallahassee before they could seize the state capital building. Because of this post the FBI had a SWAT team raid Baker's home and deployed a flashbang after breaking his door down. Baker was charged with, “transmitting a communication in interstate commerce containing a threat to kidnap or injure another person.” In 2021 he was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
