Biography

Crawford Louis Jones was a St. Petersburg Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee activist arrested and jailed during the December 29, 1966 City Hall mural protest. He was one of four defendants acquitted of grand larceny in May 1967. The historical record documents detention after arrest and separate municipal proceedings, but his exact release date has not been verified.

The study describes thirty-day suspended sentences and probation for the four defendants tried municipally after Waller and Bryant. A suspended sentence is not thirty days of time served. No state grand-larceny sentence: acquitted.
